Bibliographic Services
The function of this unit is to ensure the flow of all bibliographic
processes from the point of request to the point of receipt of book
and non-book materials in the most efficient and cost-effective
manner.
Acquisitions services
The main responsibilities of this unit are:
- The checking and processing of order requests sent via email,
on-line forms to the Acquisitions mailbox or printed cards
- Preparing and sending electronic book orders to main suppliers
or directly to publishers
- The receipt and invoice processing of materials ordered
- Fund and book orders reports to departments
- The issue of ISBN numbers for GCU publications

Reading Lists services
- Checking and processing of Reading Lists requests via email,
Reading Lists mailbox or printed lists and passing lists to Acquistions
staff for ordering
- Amending catalogue records for active/inactive reading lists

Cataloguing services
The main responsibilities of this unit include:
- Downloading, creation and amendment of bibliographic records
on the library automated catalogue
- Physical processing and classification of new accessions
- Participation in stock management in accordance with Learning
Resources standard operating procedures
Offprint
- Offprints sent by lecturers are added to Short
Loan stock and separate records created, with the exception
of articles which are available electronically
