Senior Lecturer (e-Learning)
Professional Details:
Linda is senior lecturer (e-learning) in the Department of General Professional and Academic Studies, Glasgow Caledonian University. Her role encompasses a range of e-learning activities including teaching, research, staff development and support. She is also experienced in e-learning evaluation and consultancy work, and has published and presented widely. She is is currently Chair of the Association for Learning Technology (ALT), and is a Registered Practitioner of the Higher Education Academy
Linda has been involved in several large-scale national and international e-learning initiatives. She is co-director of the UK wide Learner Experience of E-Learning (LEX) research study which is funded under the pedagogy strand of the Joint Informations System Committee (JISC)'s e-learning programme. The LEX study is exploring the learner’s perspective on e-learning by placing the learner voice centre stage.
Other activities include:
- supporting the Caledonian Business School's involvement in the Re-Engineering Assessment Practices in Scottish Higher Education (REAP) project. This collaborative initiative with Strathclyde (lead site) and Glasgow Universities is one of the Scottish Funding Council's e-learning transformational projects.
- developing postgraduate modules in e-learning as part of the ESF funded Designing and Evaluating e-Learning and Teaching Approaches (DEeLTA) project.
- Social action and learning technology is another area of interest, and Linda has had an ongoing involvement in several European and UK- based projects in this area.
Research Interests:
The learner experience of e-learning; staff development for e-learning and through e-learning; online communities of practice and cultural aspects of online communication.
