Security feature on my.Caledonian
Many of you are already using the security word feature on my.Caledonian to verify your identity via the phone to the Information Service Desk when requesting password resets, etc.
Another feature has been added that allows you to enter a security question that Information Service Desk staff can use as a prompt.
First of all they will ask you to confirm 2 random letters from your security word. Only if you get this wrong will they give you your security question as a reminder of your security word.
To set up your security question (and your security word if you haven’t set one up already) you will find the facility by clicking on the Me (staff) tab and then Set my security word.
All students registering for the university have to set up a security word and have the option of also entering a security question.
If Information Service Desk staff cannot verify your identity through the security word challenge you will have to produce your staff card at a service point in the library (the Base) or ask your HOD to email the Information Service Desk from their university email account.
Setting up a security word and question is a simple step that can make identity verification easier for everyone, so if you have still to do this can I urge you, please, to set one up now?
