Accessing the Directory File System (DFS) from a staff PC

Staff have a personal work area setup, this is mapped by the login script and set to drive letter H. On login this area is scanned for multimedia files and if you are not permitted to hold them logs their existence.

Departmental Work Areas

The root of the DFS is \\enterprise.gcal.ac.uk\GCU, to access the DFS use:

• Start

• Run

• \\enterprise.gcal.ac.uk\GCU

OS X

• Command K

• Smb:\\citstaff.enterprise.gcal.ac.uk\staff_space$

• Smb:\\citstaff.enterprise.gcal.ac.uk\staff_personal$

Credentials : OS X

When asked for your userID and password always put the domain in, which is Caledonian. The password will then be the same as you use to obtain your university email. If you need further password guidance please visit the passwords page.

Once you have found the area you wish to work in, perhaps make an alias to it on your desktop.
