Talking careers
Glasgow Caledonian, where careers come first, our maxim is one which
the careers team work hard to put into practice.
Exciting developments include the launch of the redesigned
Careers
website. It
has been updated and expanded to provide more comprehensive information
on careers service topics & activities, vacancies and useful web links.
The growth of email as a communication tool and our diverse student
population has led to an upgraded email information and advice service.
The service, accessed via our website is available to all students and
graduates; providing access to careers advice and support by email
24hours a day, 7 days a week.
Student feedback is vital to our efforts to innovate and focus on
employability. Accordingly we have expanded the careers seminar
portfolio for session 2003/4. Two new seminars - A Guide to Work
Experience and A Guide to Assessment Centres have been added to the
current suite of seminars.
This year we plan a renewed emphasis on collaborative work with
academics at school and programme level to review and enhance Careers
Education Information & Guidance (CEIG) provision, aiming to further
embed employability skills in the curriculum. This work is a core aspect
of obtaining MATRIX accreditation in session 2003/4. MATRIX is the
leading UK guidance benchmark accreditation and demonstrates the
professionalism of Glasgow Caledonian careers service's approach to
enhancing the student experience.
These priorities are rooted in our daily work with
students. Further details on the careers service can be found on
our website
or contact Deborah Houston, Head of Careers. |
