E-learning: Schools

A number of staff development events are being organised for 2003/2004. Workshops include “First Steps in E-learning”; “BlackBoard Basics” and the introduction of various resources for effective e-learning. There are three different levels of support.

Level 1

  • Survival.
    E-learning basics
Topics include BlackBoard, designing online activities and e-learning and accessibility

Level 2

  • Consolidating and enhancing e-learning practice
Topics include online communication, e-moderating and effective use of BlackBoard tools

Level 3

  • Extending the boundaries of e-learning
Topics include simulations in e-learning, further web development and using video and images effectively in e-learning.

The workshops will be supplemented by online resources. For more specialist areas, external speakers such as computer-aided assessment experts or Netskills trainers will occasionally be invited to present additional events.

Our aim is to be as flexible as possible in our approach and we would like to encourage Schools to consider how this programme could be adapted to suit the needs of their staff. We would be pleased to discuss this with Schools, and to work with you to develop a tailored programme for academic year 2003/04.
